Nancy Stahl studied illustration at Art Center College of Design. She moved to New York City to begin her freelance career and continued to study by taking classes at The School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design.

In the past three decades, Nancy Stahl's work has become woven into our culture. Assignments that have ranged from editorial to packaging, postage stamps, corporate identity and television commercials leave it hard to go to the supermarket, post office, or watch tv without seeing her drawings. Recent print work of hers has appeared in The New York Times, The Denver Post and on covers for The New Republic and Der Spiegel magazines. Her work has appeared in posters for Scholastic, in-house publications for Sappi Papers and a paint-by-numbers book and calendars for Workman Publishing. She has created packaging and identity illustrations for companies including Time-Life Music, Sharffen-Berger chocolates and Stonyfield Farms. Nancy recently worked as artistic director for an animated television commercial for M&Ms.

Books on illustration that have included her work are Illustrators in America by Walt Reed, Rolling Stone: The Illustrated Portraits and Design Impact: A History of Art Center College of Design. Articles featuring her work have appeared in Communication Arts and Step-by-Step magazines. The Illustrator QuickStart Guide, Illustrator Wow! Book and Painter Wow! Book all have samples of her digital work in their gallery sections.

In the year 2000, Nancy was chairman of the Society of Illustrators Annual. She has taught illustration at the School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology and was an instructor at the Independent Study Masters Degree program at Syracuse University. She speaks at colleges throughout the country and recently gave a computer workshop in Hamburg, Germany.

Nancy still lives in New York City where she pursues her hobby of computerized knitting when she needs distraction.
