Nancy Stahl

Nancy Stahl studied illustration at Art Center College of Design. She moved to New York City to begin her freelance career and continued to study by taking classes at The School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design.
In the past three decades, Nancy Stahl's work has become woven into our culture. Her assignments have ranged from editorial to packaging, postage stamps, corporate identity and television commercials. Recent clients include Time magazine, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Her work has appeared in ads for Celebrex, posters for Scholastic, in-house publications for Sappi Papers and calendars for Workman Publishing. She has created packaging and identity illustrations for companies including The Disney Family Museum, Time-Life Music, Sharffen-Berger chocolates and Stonyfield Farms. Nancy worked as artistic director for an animated television commercial for M&Ms. Her stamps for the US Postal Service have been among the most used in post office history.
Books on illustration that have included Nancy's work are Illustrators in America by Walt Reed, Rolling Stone: The Illustrated Portraits and Design Impact: A History of Art Center College of Design. Articles featuring her work have appeared in Graphis Design Journal 001, Communication Arts and illo. magazines. The Illustrator QuickStart Guide, Illustrator Wow! Book and Painter Wow! Books all have samples of her digital work in their gallery sections.
Nancy has taught illustration at the School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology and was an instructor at the Independent Study Masters Degree program at Syracuse University. She speaks at colleges throughout the country.
Nancy still lives in New York City where she pursues her hobby of computerized knitting when she needs distraction.
